Now in its second decade of accomplishment, the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Center for Elephant Conservation (CEC) continues its renowned work in the reproduction, research and retirement of the endangered Asian elephant. Established in 1995, the CEC's state-of-the-art, 200-acre environment – located in central Florida – is among the world's leading conservation facilities dedicated to an Asian elephant breeding program and is one of the most successful of its kind outside of Southeast Asia, with 18 elephant calves born into our care and more on the way.

At the CEC, our team of experts has built upon experience and insight gained from 136 years of working closely with Asian elephants and other exotic animals. Our intimate understanding of the Asian elephant was instrumental in the design of a conservation center that caters to our elephants' every need. Our CEC staff is skilled at interacting with each of our elephants, paying careful attention to ensuring they live healthy, enriched and comfortable lives.

As a founding member of the International Elephant Foundation, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® and our CEC have helped sponsor efforts to provide emergency veterinary care, supplies, research scholarships and grants, and management training to elephant trainers in Sumatra, Indonesia. In addition, our CEC staff is contacted regularly by zoos, veterinarians, researchers and scholars from around the world regarding elephant husbandry.

With only 35,000 Asian elephants remaining on our planet, animal conservationists agree that it will take breeding programs such as the one at Ringling Bros.® to ensure the Asian elephant population is guaranteed a long and safe future.

Endangered species? Not if we can help it.™
